Sydney, N.S. – Cape Breton University and CAPERS women's basketball head coach Fabian McKenzie is pleased to announce the commitment of guard Audrey Rankin to Cape Breton University for the upcoming season.
The 4th-year guard from Prince George's County, MD is a former All-team Regional and National NJCAA level All-star. She also led the nation in 3-pt percentage in 2015-16. Rankin chose Cape Breton because CBU offers their student-athletes all the tools to succeed. Rankin explained, "As much as I'm looking forward to school, the women's basketball program exceeds it's reputation and I'm pleased to be a part of it."
"I am excited to add Audrey to our roster for the coming season. She brings a great deal of experience to our program and she can really shoot the basketball," commented McKenzie. "She will be able to stretch opposing defenses and combine this with her passing ability to help our team find more scoring opportunities. Audrey will be studying in the Psychology program at CBU." McKenzie said.
When Audrey was asked how she sees herself helping the CAPERS in her first season, she said: "As an incoming 4th-year, I want to uphold the traditions and contribute to the team by learning to be a leader from the 5th-year players while working on being another threat for the Capers."
