Capers split weekend series with Saint Mary's
The Cape Breton University Capers split a pair of home games with the Saint Mary's Huskies in AUS men's basketball action in Sydney Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday, the Capers offence lost traction in the second half as the Huskies came from behind to post a 73-55 win.

Sean McCormick had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Capers, who fell to 4-7 on the year.

Lee MacQuarrie with 11 points and seven rebounds and Seth Amoah with 11 points were the only other Capers to finish in double figures.

Boyd Vassell had a game-high 26 points for the Huskies, who trailed 34-33 at half.

Theon Reefer added 13 points for the winners while Marquis Clayton chipped in with 12 points, six assists and six steals in a winning cause.

Saturday night, a costly Saint Mary's turnover opened the door for the Capers with 12 seconds remaining in regulation.
The home squad didn't squander their chance and Cedric Kasongo drilled a three-pointer from just in front of the CBU bench with two seconds left in the game to give the Capers a 77-75 win.
Meshack Lufile led the way for CBU with a game-high 19 points, while Kasongo and Amoah both contributed 17 points in the win.
Sean McCormick pulled down 12 rebounds for the Capers.
For the Huskies, Vassell scored 18 points, and Reefer added 15 points and Clayton 14 points, in the loss.
