Sacade Kasamba – a first-year guard with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS men's varsity basketball team – who was a key contributor in a pair of weekend road games versus the Dalhousie Tigers, is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU male athlete of the week for the week ending Nov 17.
On Nov. 15, at Dalplex in Halifax, the Bachelor of Business Administration student finished with a team-high 18 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals – in 30 minutes – in a convincing 83-58 triumph for the Capers.
One night later, on Nov. 16, in an 88-83 loss, he finished with two points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 13 minutes.
Kasamba is averaging 6.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists – in 17.5 minutes per game – while hitting 50 per cent of his three-point attempts.
The CAPERS (4-2) will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 22, when they host the UPEI Panthers at Sullivan Fieldhouse on the CBU campus in Sydney in an 8 p.m. tip-off.

Academic program: Bachelor of Arts in Community Studies
Kiyara Letlow – a fourth-year forward with the Cape Breton University (CBU) CAPERS varsity basketball team, who averaged a double-double in a pair of road match-ups with the Dalhousie Tigers in Atlantic University Sport (AUS) action over the weekend – is the 7by7 Restaurant CBU female athlete of the week for the week ending Nov 17.
On Nov. 15, at Dalplex in Halifax, Letlow – in 40 minutes – finished with 29 points, 17 rebounds, two assists and one steal in a 76-67 victory.
One evening later, on Nov. 16, the 6'1" native of Toronto collected 21 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots – in 38 minutes – in a 75-65 loss.
Letlow, who is averaging a double-double, tops the conference in both points (22.8) and rebounds (15.5) per game.
The CAPERS (5-1) will return to the court on Friday, Nov. 22, when they host the UPEI Panthers at Sullivan Fieldhouse on the CBU campus in Sydney in a 6 p.m. tip-off.
