CAPERS split games with UPEI
The CAPERS were on the road this weekend for back-to-back games against the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in Atlantic University Sport men's basketball action this weekend.
Friday night's action saw the CAPERS fall to the Panthers 100-88. The first half saw both teams exchanging baskets and the score staying close with the Panthers up by 1 after the first quarter and the CAPERS up by 2 at the half. The CAPERS dominated the third quarter expanding their lead to 9 points. The fourth quarter saw several turnovers and missed shots by the CAPERS which allowed the Panthers to pull ahead and take the win.
Oroma Bongomin led the scoring for CBU with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Tafarian Black added 18 points and 5 boards while Aaron Cunningham and Josiah McKnight both added 11 points.
The CAPERS faced the Panthers again on Saturday pulling off an 85-73 win. The CAPERS were ahead for most of the game, but the Panthers kept the pressure on and stayed close behind for the duration.
Tafarian Black posted another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Oroma Bongomin and Stefan Anisko both added 18 points while Liai Tong and Tayshaun Thomas chipped in with 10 each.
The CAPERS will play their last game of the season on Saturday, February 14 at 6pm followed by the men's game at 8pm. It will be African Heritage Night at the Sullivan Fieldhouse and we will also be celebrating our graduates.
