CAPERS Men’s Basketball Welcomes Nosa Lawani
The Cape Breton University CAPERS Men's Basketball program is pleased to announce the commitment of Nosa Lawani for the upcoming AUS Basketball season. A 6'5" forward from Oakville, Ontario, Lawani joins the CAPERS following a successful tenure with Tall Pines Academy, where he helped capture the NPH D1 Academy Championship. Lawani's versatility, paired with his size, athleticism, and competitive energy, makes him a strong addition to the program. He will enter Cape Breton University in the Bachelor of Arts and Community Studies (BACS) program this fall.
"Nosa is just an outstanding young man. Not only will he be a great player in our program, but he will bring all of the qualities we are looking for in an individual to the CAPERS community," shared Head Coach Matt Skinn. "He is strong, athletic, and a dedicated person on and off the floor. We can't wait to have Nosa with our team!"
When asked about his decision to join the CAPERS, Lawani emphasized the welcoming environment within the program. "I chose CBU because of how the coaches and the team welcomed me and made me feel part of the team. Another reason was that I knew I could develop into a better player and a better person at CBU."
On what he expects to bring to the team next season, Lawani points to his physical style and all-around game. "I see myself bringing physicality, energy, and my versatility offensively and defensively as strengths that I can contribute to the team."
Lawani is eager to get started in Cape Breton. "I'm ready to get to work!"
