Sydney, NS - The CBU CAPERS edged out the Aigles Bleus de Moncton 2-1 in Men's AUS soccer action today at Ness Timmons Field with a score of 2-1.
Just shy of 2 minutes after the start of the game, Evan Cunningham scored a goal, assisted by Max Piepgrass. Just as Moncton shook off the quick goal, Jamie Nicholson beat the goalie on a pass from Amadou Bayo to bring the CAPERS up 2-0. At the 33 minute mark, Moncton was awarded a penalty kick but their opportunity to score was shut down by CAPERS keeper Jack Harrington with a brilliant save. The score stood at 2-0 at the half.
The two teams battled back and forth until the 75th minute when Soumaila Mohamed Dagnoko scored one for Moncton. There were several chances towards the end for both teams but the CAPERS held out for the win.
Soumaila Mohamed Dagnoko was the player of the game for Moncton and Yohann Hebert was the Subways of CBRM Player of the Game for the CAPERS.
