CBU CAPERS standout Harvey Hughes has landed a chance to shine at Halifax Wanderers after winning a slot in the 2026 Canadian Premier League U SPORTS draft.
The gifted CAPER with the wand of a left foot had a superb season for Head Coach Deano Morley's side as they reached the AUS Conference Final and made the last eight of the U SPORTS National Championship.
Now he has been rewarded with the opportunity to win a future at Wanderers after also being drafted for Cavalry FC last year.
Harvey reflected: "I'm thrilled to have another shot at the CPL because last summer I got injured immediately in Calgary and that wrecked two months of my time there.
"Now I just want to stay fit and healthy and have a second shot in the professional ranks after growing up in Academies back home in England."
Harvey signed for Portsmouth when he just 13 years old before moving onto to Blackpool where he was in the top team reckoning before being sent out on a loan deal that turned sour.
The Academy soccer environment in Britain can be brutal, the game is a way of life to teenagers consumed by their quest for the big time but only the chosen few make it.
Harvey confessed: "It became like an industry to me, I lost the joy of simply playing and I have rediscovered that in my two years in Cape Breton. Now I just want to make the most of this chance."
