CAPERS lose hard fought battle to Tigers
SYDNEY, NS - The CAPERS fought a hard battle with the #1 ranked Dalhousie Tigers this afternoon in AUS women's soccer action.
The first half saw the CAPERS playing many minutes in the offensive zone. They had several good opportunities but had difficulty getting past the Dalhousie defense. Dalhousie had 2 shots on goal in the first half but were denied by CAPERS keeper Ellie Lancaster. The half ended in a 0-0 tie.
The CAPERS had 3 early shots by Grace Hannaford in the second half but she couldn't beat Emily Hoth. Dalhousie put a point on the board at the 66 minute mark with a goal from Elise Evans. Eight minutes later, Audrey Roy had an opportunity to tie the game with a nice header shot but was shut down by Toth again. The game ended in favour of the Tigers, who are leading the conference with a record of 9-1-0. After 10 regular season games, the CAPERS record is 5-2-3, holding on to the fourth spot in the conference.
The CAPERS will be off for the Thanksgiving weekend and will return to action on the road at Acadia on Friday, October 17 at 5pm and on Saturday, October 18 at 5pm, which will be the last game of the regular season.
CBU will be hosting the Bell 2025 AUS Women's Soccer Championship presented by Protocase at Ness Timmons Field on October 23-26. The game times will be 1pm and 4pm on the 23rd, 1pm and 4pm on the 24th and the championship game will be on the 26th at 1pm.
