The President's Award was introduced to recognize the top academic performance among our student-athletes. Criteria for the award were developed thanks to our academic advisor, Allen Britten. This year's recipient is recognized for their effort during the 2020-21 academic year; she accumulated an overall average of 94% while working toward her Bachelor of Business Administration degree. From Halifax, NS, the President's Award was awarded to Erin Freeman.
The Kathy Reid Memorial Award was given to the student-athlete who overcame physical challenges to impact a championship team. This year's recipient from Dartmouth, NS, is Hugh Parslow. Overcoming an injury, he helped guide a very young squad who struggled to come together, he provided extra recovery and workout sessions for players in his own time, and continually pushed himself in an attempt to return and help the team. In a triumphant return, he was named team Captain for the National Bronze medal game and he led the team to win their fourth National medal in a row.
The Credit Unions Most Outstanding Performance of the year award went to Promise Akachukwu (Abuja, Nigeria). Promise set a Track and Field record for CBU by finishing first place in the 60m Race and winning the Gold medal at the AUS Championships. His time of 6.86 seconds was one of the ten best times in all of Canada and earned him a trip to the National Championships. A first for CBU's Track and Field team.
