Maheu hat trick paces Capers past Huskies

A new era in Cape Breton University Capers men's soccer started on a winning note as the home side made rookie head coach Deano Morley a winner with a 4-0 victory over the visiting Saint Mary's Huskies Sunday in Sydney.

With former player and long-time assistant coach Morley now leading the sideline for the Capers, CBU dominated the visiting Huskies from start to finish to open the season on a victorious note.

Mark Stewart opened the scoring for the home side in the 12^th minute ad Justin Maheu would add another in the 19^th minute to establish a 2-0 lead, which the Capers would take to the locker room at half time.

Maheu, a second-year forward from Gatineau, PQ, was back at it in the second half, notching his second of the game in the 68^th minute and finishing off the hat trick with his third of the game in the 81^st minute.

Ethan MacInnis made two saves in the CBU goal to record the shutout and the victory. Adam Miller made 14 saves in a losing cause for the Huskies.

CBU will be on the road next weekend when they travel to New Brunswick for games UNB Saturday and Moncton Sunday.
