CAPERS fall to the X-Women
Sydney, NS - The CBU CAPERS faced off against the StFX X-Women on Friday, November 29 at the Sullivan Fieldhouse in AUS Women's basketball action.
The CAPERS had a slow start in the first quarter with the X-Women up by 10 at the 3-minute mark. The CAPERS found their groove and brought the score to within 6 by the end of the first quarter. The CAPERS dominated the second quarter and were able to overcome the X-Women to be ahead 35-33 at the half.
StFX returned strong after the half time break and went on a run to go ahead by 16. The CAPERS battled back for a difference of 13 at the end of the third. Despite their best efforts, the CAPERS were not able to come back form the deficit and the X-Women won the game 75-60.
Mali Straker led the way for the X-Women with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Shannon Neita chipped in with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 1 assist while Lauren Neeve added 13 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
For the CAPERS, Amanda Cruickshank posted 20 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Alicia Bowering, the Subways of CBRM player of the game, added 12 points and 2 rebounds. Emily MacNeil contributed 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
The CAPERS will now be on a break for exams and the winter holiday. They will be back in action on the road at UNB on January 9 and 10. AUS basketball action will return to the Sullivan Fieldhouse on January 17 with games at 6 and 8 against the Dalhousie Tigers.
