Huskies over CAPERS 64-54
SYDNEY, NS - The Huskies took the win over the CAPERS 64-54 in Atlantic University Sport women's basketball action on Saturday, January 31, at the Sullivan Fieldhouse.
The first quarter saw a bit of back and forth for both teams with the Huskies netting a few more than the CAPERS with a score of 19-12 at the buzzer. The second quarter saw the CAPERS up their defense and improve their shot percentage to bring the score close at the half but still trailing by 4.
The third quarter had the same intensity from both teams and the CAPERS managed to bring the gap to 3 at the end of the stanza with a score of 48-45. Things really got interesting in the fourth when the CAPERS stepped up their defence to shut down the Huskies while going on a point run themselves. Emily MacNeil's 3-pointer at 7:47 put the CAPERS in the lead 50-48. They kept the lead until the 4-minute mark but the Huskies offence got back on track to take back the lead and get the win, 64-54.
